1.      Imagine it is two years later, you have just finished your first year of college what are specific elements of high school life are you missing? I am in my first year of college I will miss a lot of elements from high school. I will miss being able to turn in work late. Another thing I will miss is those nights when I don’t have any homework, Nights just watching TV or being on social networks. Since starting college I don’t get a lot of sleep and have to read long and boring chapters for homework.

2. Reflect back on all of your blog posts - which was your best critical analysis and in depth piece? What about this topic will stick with you? The blog post that I felt was the best was the one on bullying. I found that blog post to be very important to everyone. That was one of the blog posts that everyone can relate to.

3. Do you think that blogging is something that you will continue to do after this class - why/why not? I might blog after this class but I won’t do it every week. I might just blog when a major event happens and I want to express my feelings about it.

4. Now that you are a proficient online social mediaphile how are you going to be an ambassador for social, professional and academic digital life? I would not be an ambassador for social, professional and academic digital life. I would not do these things because I am eventually I will stop using social media websites. I would mind talking about my experience on social media websites but I wouldn’t want to do it in front of a big group.

5. What are the basic elements that contribute the digital divide? What steps can you take yourself to begin to bridge that divide and connect people using technology? The elements that contribute to digital divide are discrimination. I choose to say discrimination because the people are being treated equal. By them not being treated equal some people are getting to basic needs such as internet connection because of the location of their house. I can contribute to the lack of digital divide by being helpful in my community and raising money so that children who don’t have or can’t afford internet or access get it and will not have to pay. 

6. The unofficial name of this course is "online social media literacy" - what do you think this means? Why is it necessary to be literate in our ever-growing online social world? I think in means the course will provide us with information about social media and teach us the lay outs of the social media world. It is necessary to be literal in the growth of online social media because new things are created every day. It is good we have this course so we can learn what we are doing when entering the social media world.

Digital Divide

On one bring Monday afternoon we learned about Digital Divide. Our teacher had us read a article out of the magazine called Upfront/New York Times. The article talked about the difference in the areas with broadband and the areas without. The article also described the good and bad for having the broadband connection. In the article I learned about a boy name Pheylon Martin and his experience as a high school senior. Pheylon talked about how broadband was not offered in his neighborhood. When he would have homework he would have to download the web page in order to complete his work. This a disadvantage for him because he cannot email teachers if he needs help with an assignment like the other students. Another problem is when students have to apply for college. Most applications are online so it makes it hard for those without the broadband to complete. Students that are in the same situation as Pheylon are going through the same things. I believe the government should get involved. The government should make it that all neighborhoods with children should have broadband or have a library in those neighborhoods without the broadband connection.  Digital Divide is becoming very necessary and everyone should be aware of the topic.

        Cyber Warfare has been a very popular topic I the media. Cyber Warfare is the talk of town but what is it? Cyber Warfare is the use of computers and the internet in conducting warfare in cyber space. Cyber space is the notional environment in which communication over computer networks occurs. This brings up the topic about wars in the United States and elsewhere.  I wonder will they begin to do wars on the computer. This might be good to the people but it can cause other things to happen. For example people getting into government files. If someone hacks into a government file, that can cause a lot of issues. That will not just harm the government but that will harm everyone. That could cause people to lose jobs and other things that are important like houses and even family pets. In conclusion the thought of any war is harmful and could cause heart ache and pain. Everyone should just get along and we will not have to think about these alternate war routes.  

File Sharing

While in computer Apps 2 class we discussed the issues on file sharing. The topic we focused on the most was a company called “Lime Wire”. Lime wire is a free peer to peer file sharing website. The company has shut down due to the illegal use of the website. The website was allowing its users to download the songs without paying for the songs. The company can end up paying 1 billion dollars for its damages. Lime wire was one of the most famous places to download music. I do not believe the website should have shut down they should have came up with a method so the customers could pay less than other companies and that would have helped “Lime Wire” and the people who loves the web site. I remember my cousin’s would always use the website. When a new CD would come out they would always have it. I thought the police was going to come and lock them up. Then I learned about the situation in Mr.Morean class.

Osama bin Laden is Dead

“Yet his death does not mark the end of our effort.  There’s no doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us.  We must –- and we will -- remain vigilant at home and abroad”.

The quote is about the death of Osama bin Laden and how much it meant to the United States citizens. Osama bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the United States on September 11, 2001. On that date buildings, people and transportation was destroyed. This day went down in history and will never be forgotten. Every president since then has spoke out about 9/11 but never did enough to catch Osama bin Laden. On May 1^st Barack Obama said that Osama was captured/ killed and the United States had his body in custody. This was the best news to the American citizens and people all over. After 9/11 it took the United States and counter terrorism cooperation’s from Pakistan 10 years to find the man who was responsible for the action that led to 9/11.

When being bullied you face different things most time because of your race. For example Minority bulling is based on clothes and accessories. Victims are most likely to express themselves through lashing out and aggressive behavior. Another example is White bullying they usually get bullied about their personal appearance. Most prevalent than the minority, most likely to act out psychology. Both the minority and white’s family relations dynamics are important to address with bullying. There is a little change between race bullying and peer relationships/family relationships and school. Summary:

      I learned about the different kind of bullying and how race and ethnicity was the factor. While reading these articles I noticed that bullying can cause children to have low self-esteem. When children have low self-esteem it hard for them to communicate with children there age because they do not want to be judged. Often when children are being bullied they become violent or aggressive. They number of children in high school being bullied do not tell because they are scared they will be teased or bullied more. This happen all year but when the bullies notice that she was paying attention and reacting the move on to the next. The student was me Salihah I would often take the last “h” of my name but I could not let children with any home training or respect for others make me change the person who I was. By the way I never was physically bullied just by words. All victims shouldn’t turn the cheek and ignore those who do not have manners and make them feel like you by just being quiet. “Silence is Golden”.           My teacher Mr.Morean has asked the class to avoid the website face book for 7 days. My first thought was how am I going to communicate with my friends that I do not t call or text. I do not think I am going to be able to complete this no facebook challenge. I get on facebook everyday and talk to family, friends, mentors and other people I find important but I cannot do that for 7 whole days I think I am going to die. I honestly do not think I am going to be able to do this. When I do not get on facebook I do not know when events are happening and also do not know what’s going on period. If I make the 7 days I am going to be so confused when I get back on. Next time I blog I am going to tell you whether I made it through this challenge or if I failed.

She Taught Alot

On February 24, In Computer Apps we had a speaker name Margie Newman come and enlighten us with information about the internet. She told how when she was growing up in Nashville, Tennessee she was a geek and would get stuffed in lockers and how she enjoyed reading. She brought up the topic about social networking and how you should be safe and not say all your information because the internet is public. She talked about how she doesn’t share information about her personal life and other things that’s very important to you. She talked about how as you grow up colleges and jobs will look at your social networks and that might be their first impression of you. We also talked about how she has many websites and how they help her network. She doesn’t have to pay for them since her husband does. I really appreciated her coming to our class it was nice and I think she enjoyed to. I hope to have more speakers in the future. Thank you Mr.Morean for letting Mrs. Margie come to our class period.

Humans You Cause Global Warming

The human population just might end the world.  Scientist and researchers are starting to see the negative effect humans have on the environment.  Our world is slowly falling apart because of the things we do.  We as humans should start to think about what we do and take control over our actions.  The amount of energy we use cooking, watching television, driving and using the internet is slowly destroying our environment.  We need to be more environmentally and think about the safety of the world.

Humans are cause of the environments down fall. Humans are to blame because they capture and use up unnecessary energy.  When you are driving a car that uses fossil fuels from the carbon goes in the air and it releases as carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. As humans build houses they are killing plants and trees and those plants and animals are storing carbon. While the plants and trees are dying they are releasing carbon and its harming the environment. Purchasing meat at the local grocery store is also harmful.   The meat from the animals has lot of methane and that is a major green house gas that is not good for our environment.   Therefore humans are contributing to global warming in many ways. 

           I believe humans caused global warming and the problems being   the atmosphere.   Although they caused it, they can also fix the problem with global warming.  If people start being more friendly to the environment, this may allow the problems in the environment to be corrected.   We just have to work together and we can change the world for the better. Humans can change the global warming crises.

I n Tunisia, four people are dead and nine are in critical condition due to a protest that has taken place. This all happen when security officials open fire in the central western region of Kasserine. The victims were between 17-30 but the youngest person was 12 they died that Saturday night.  The child who was 12 had gotten shot in  the head .

The conditions are not great and I have a problem. Not only are people dying but children are get shot. We as the United States should do something to help stop this from happening. I wish that I was the president for a day I would help out. Just because they might not help the United States doesn’t mean we should act the same.
